Time: 3:OO - 7:00 PM

The event will celebrate the planned opening of the 27 acre Frenchtown Historic Site two miles west of the Whitman Mission on Highway 12.

Activites to include:

  • Talks by members of the Frenchtown Historical Foundation and the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation,
  • Entertainment including tribal drummers and dancers, French Canadian/Metis music and dancing, and
  • Historical displays.

Historic Frenchtown provides an essential link to our area's history and culture, including the 1855 Battle of Walla Walla between European immigrants and local tribes, the 1876 St. Rose of Lima Mission and Cemetery, and the central portion of the historic settlement by French Canadian fur traders from the Hudson Bay Company trading post at Wallula, their Indian wives, and their Metis children beginning about 1824.  The event will complete the fundraising to preserve and enhance this important community asset, and honor those who lived and died there.

The requested donation for tickets is $25.00 per person.  Tickets are available at the Destination Walla Walla window at 26 East Main St in Walla Walla or at the Great Pacific Wine and Coffee Company, 403 South Main in Pendleton. For additional information please visit: www.frenchtownpartners.org
