Vasant Panchami (Hindu)
Vasant Panchami is a Hindu festival of the Spring season. ‘Vasant’ means Spring and panchami refers to the fifth day of the Hindu lunar calendar month. Thus, Vasant Panchami refers to the Hindu Spring festival that falls on the fifth day of the bright fortnight of the Hindu month of Magh. Vasant Panchami is also known as Shri Panchami.
Spiritual Significance
Hindus all over the world celebrate this festival with great enthusiasm, as it is believed to be the birthday of Goddess Sarasvati, the God principle of motion (gati), Who is also associated with the creation of the Universe. She is the Energy related to the male deity, "Lord Brahma".
